From fireworks to citizenship, baseball to volleyball, Richmond is preparing All-American celebrations all across the city in honor of Independence Day. Below are our top six ways to celebrate this 4th of July.

Rocketts Red Glare

Richmond’s historic East End riverfront once again delivers the perfect patriotic stage for Rocketts Red Glare, a 2-day festival featuring a professional beach volleyball tournament and culminating with a 4th of July fireworks spectacular on the banks of the James River. This FREE, family-friendly event, hosted at Rocketts Landing, will include vendors, food trucks, craft beer offerings, and the Richmond Volleyball Club's Sand in the City beach volleyball showcase.

Celebrate with the Newest Americans

Join the Virginia Museum of History and Culture for a full day of star-spangled festivities from 10am-5pm. Watch a large-scale citizenship naturalization ceremony beginning at 10:30 am and celebrate as 100 candidates for citizenship from nearly 50 countries take the Oath of Allegiance on the front terrace of the museum. This event is held in partnership with the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and officiated by the Honorable Roger L. Gregory, Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

The museum will also feature live music, a scavenger hunt, highlights gallery tours, food trucks, and a photo booth.

Flying Squirrels Annual Celebration

What’s more American than enjoying America’s favorite pastime? Join the Richmond Flying Squirrels for their annual 4th of July tradition at The Diamond. Following the game, enjoy one of region's largest fireworks shows.

Take the Party to the Roof

Celebrate the 4th of July while enjoying the Richmond skyline. Both Quirk’s The Q Rooftop Bar and The Graduate’s Byrd House will feature rooftop Independence Day festivities filled with music, food, drinks, and of course, rooftop views of the area’s fireworks displays. Both events feature a cover charge.

Celebrate CarMax Free Fourth of July by enjoying the gardens, Butterflies LIVE! Wear red, white and blue and bring your wagons and strollers to decorate for a parade in the Children’s Garden. Children can also cool off in WaterPlay. Enjoy free admission all day, from 9am-5pm.
