Richmond celebrates the holidays in a big way and this season is no exception. This weekend is packed with local events sure to bring out the festive cheer and merriment. So whether you still have a few people to check off your shopping list, or you’re just looking for something fun where the kids can make a few memories, take a peek at these local festivities sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15th

Holiday Train Display at The Great Big Greenhouse
There’s just something magical about model trains at Christmas. Kids of all ages will enjoy this display by River City 3 Railers.
9am-7pm

Holiday Cookie Decorating at Regency Square
There’s no sweeter holiday tradition than decorating sugar cookies. Participants receive three sugar cookies plus decorations and all proceeds benefit the Henrico Christmas Mother.
10am-3pm // $5 per person

Elf at The Byrd
What better setting than Richmond’s storied Byrd Theater to enjoy this modern Christmas classic movie. Steeped in history and beauty, this landmark makes going to any movie an event.
10am // $4 per person

Cocoa & Candy Canes with Nutzy and Nutasha at The Diamond
Join the city’s favorite squirrels for a morning of merriment and cheer. The two Flying Squirrels Baseball mascots will be available for pictures and hot cocoa at Funnville and in the Squirrels Nest Team Store. Plus, enjoy hot chocolate and candy canes! 
11am-1pm

 

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16th

7th Annual Carytown Artisan Market
Shop unique homemade gifts and goods form over 70 vendors while enjoying live music and food trucks.
10am-5pm

RVA Santa at Green Top Sporting Goods
Visit Green Top for a complimentary Santa Meet and Greet Pass and Santa photo. Passes are available first come, first serve. Donations to the Children’s Hospital of Richmond will be accepted.
12pm-4pm

Holiday Open House at Crossroads Art Center
Enjoy live music and art demos by local artists Sara O’Connor and Robin Grabinska, shop vendors for unique gifts or bid in the silent auction to support Hawthorne Cancer Foundation.
12pm-10am

Santa Paws at Stony Point Fashion Park
Every dog has his day – including his day with Santa! Bring your fur baby to Stony Point to sit with the jolly man himself for a picture this holiday season.
